Doesn't it look nicer when we are smiling than sad?

Carrie is off to college now. We will have to call often and look at all the pictures from the summer.

Our Social Worker (SW) says our Dossier will be sent to China this week. Exciting!! Now begins the official one year or more wait to get Lily's picture. Life has settled into a routine here and the thought of messing with that can be scary but I know that God has a plan for our little girls just as he has a plan for each of us.

In the meantime, Carrie will get married, Erin will finish tenth grade and Mya will turn 3. I'm sure when the Lily gets here the time will seem to have flown by but it looks like an eternity from this side.

Checkin' Out the Fair

There's really nothing quite like going to the state fair.
Mya loved everything about it.
Here she is at the animal birthing center, petting a lamb.

Soup Buddies

Katie came over to watch Mya while I took Erin to the Oral surgeon to get her wisdom teeth out. Katie says she usually has lunch food for breakfast. Indeed, she and Mya were sharing soup when I left at 9:15 AM. You know what they say--Soup is good food.

I think I should start a club called MOACAT--Mothers of adult children and toddlers.

There's a gal at work who is my age who gave birth 3 years ago and has 2 grown children. There are about a bajillion [yes, that is a real word ;) ] of us who have Children from China and grown or nearly grown children.

When we go somewhere, we don't really fit in. Who should we hang with? If I hang out with similar age women, they are happily discussing graduations, marriages, driver's licenses and grandchildren. I do have most of that and can relate.

If I hang out with the first time parents, they are happily talking about diapers, cutting teeth and the terrific 2s, 3s & 4s. It's not that we don't love all you folks with your first time toddlers BUT, we are in a special class. How many of you have had a hysterectomy??

Worst of all is the single crowd. There's a gal at work who likes to compare parenting to her having a cat. I see some resemblences but really!?!

So, I am suggesting a new classification--MOACAT. Anyone want to join? If it goes well, and I think it will, then we can become a nationally recognized group, perhaps even with a strong lobby in congress.

More Detroit Lakes Pix

Yes, this is the same girl in my previous post. I was unable to post pix for a few days. Now we will make up for lost time.

The house we rented had a little deck area facing the east.

The sunrise is taken though a screen but is still very nice. AND it was a disposable camera.

The city of Detroit Lakes has sunfish "statues" throughout the town. Some had scenes painted on them. Others were mirror chips. This one has sequins the size of quarters dangling from it. Kind of cool.

Another shot of Erin and Mya crossing the mighty Mississippi.

On the last morning at the house, we had some bread to spare. So, we fed it to the sunfish off the dock. They were like goldfish coming up to the top and grabbing the bread. Mya just loved it.

Keep checking back. I've got some really silly pix of Mya waiting to be downloaded from my digital camera.

Picture defeciet

I've been trying to post pix but was unable to do so. Here's Mya's referral picture. Guess everything is working today. Look for some new pictures soon.

Erin is getting her wisdom teeth out today. Whoopee!!

Return to Securiy!

So thankful that Bro Mark Grishom from Florida stayed to preach at our church yesterday. Let me relay a tiny portion of his message.

Mark was in the airport, kind of running on autopilot, putting shoes on x-ray belt, grabbing his stuff on the other side. He'd done it a million times and it took no real conscious thought process. He was brought back to reality by a loud clear voice make this overhead announcement "Rich Davis, return to security, Rich Davis, return to security."

Would this announcement have come if this man forgot his sunglasses or some other small item? No, he must have forgotten something really important.

The Lord worked on Bro Mark to formulate a basic message that applies to each of us "Verna, return to security, you have forgotten your Bible."

So many times, we fail to go to the secure words of God. We think we can do in all on our own strength. Overtime, we start to think skewed thoughts. We need to RETURN TO SECURITY, WE HAVE FORGOTTEN OUR BIBLES.

What a great message. I know I needed it. I only hope I have done it justice.

Need to stop and pray!

Boy, life is going like a merry-go-round in high gear or maybe that is the spin cycle on my washing machine. Either way, I'd like it to stop so that I can just get off and take a mental rest.

Carrie's wedding plans are moving slowly from my vantage point. I have seen/heard no real hardcore arrangements since the dresses were decided on. She returns to school in 2 weeks. Every time I mention anything, I get my head chewed off. It's hard to watch, knowing it will be difficult to make arrangements from 3 hours away BUT not much I can do about that.

Our social worker will be telling us soon if our dossier has gone to China and been logged in. In many ways, I am happy to have a year to get life together before her arrival but in other ways, I just want to get on with it.

Work is busy again and as usual I worked the last 5 of seven days--my scheduler can't seem to get it clear that I need a day or 3 off after working the weekend. For those of you who don't know, I'm only supposed to work 5 days in 14. Hence the complaint. For the next week after my weekend, I put in a formal request to be scheduled off for the Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday following. We'll see how that comes out.

Erin is in the habit of having friends over nearly every night of the week. That's fine since she needs a social life and is unable to drive until next month. However, our frig is empty and the house gets messier more quickly. Next week she gets her wisdom teeth out. WOO HOO. God bless Katie Lo who will be coming over that day to watch both Erin and Mya while I head off to work. Guess I could have planned that better but wanted to get it done before school starts. Carrie got dry socket last spring. Let's hope Erin does not.

Keith just got hearing aids. That's an ego buster. (Wallet buster, too.) AND my new glasses just don't feel right. Wretched things make my left eye feel weird.

This weekend is church camp. It's right here in town. So, that is nice. No hotels and Mya can sleep in her own bed. She gets pretty worn out with all the activity, as does mom.

I'm sure my life is not really much different from others. I have just chosen to record the chaos for all of you to read.

Yes, Becky, I need to read your book about the busyness of life. Tonight I will get in some serious prayer time at the camp. The theme is "Pursuing His Purpose--it's not about me". Pretty timely, I'd say.

Someone called my baby a baldy

I don't know why it bothered me. All my babies were baldies at one year. God knows this is what I was used to. One of the babies had hair that stuck straight up. Would that have been better for me? Probably not. Lots of the babies had tons of hair. I would not have known what to do with it. God knows what's best. My baby isn't bald anymore and neither are her siblings. God knows.

Grandma's Handywork

Today, Carrie came home from work to find packages on the front step. One was from Grandma Arlene and had lots of goodies in it. Mya was pretty thrilled to get a quilt for her dolly. I will have to find my dolly cradle that I got when I was little so that Mya can have her babies sleep next to her in her room.

Are we there yet . . .

. . . . . This trip to get Lily is sure taking a long time!

After a couple redos on our paperwork, our social worker has told me that we should still be able to be DTC by the end of the month. The redone papers will be mailed to Grand Rapids today and then off to Washington,DC for final authentication by the end of the week. I've been praying that God will speed up the DTC (Dossier to China)/LID (Log in Date) to referral time so that we can have Lily home by summer 2007 BUT currently, it is taking over a year. SO, don't want to get our hopes up. PATIENCE!! All in God's timing.

One Big Turkey!!

They are crazy in Frazee. This big turkey sits on the south side of town in a park named "The best Lions park by a Dam site". Yes, there is a dam there. I suppose it is an accurate claim but it isn't because it smells like roses because directly behind the huge turkey are some turkey barns. Very aromatic.

The Mother of All Sippies

If you noticed a lag in our posts, it's due to a trip to Detroit Lakes and some time in a rented lake home. It was a nice little place with only 2 things missing--airconditioning and a good sized beach. Otherwise, it was fun and we got to explore an area that we have not gone to before. While there, we made a trek to the Mississippi headwaters at Lake Itasca. It's fun because we have done it through the years starting before we were married. Now it is Mya's turn to walk across the mighty Mississippi and play on the rocks. Here are a couple spapshots from the trip. The boating picture is from the lake we stayed at.
