"don't count your chickens before they hatch"

This saying could be applied to Dossiers being sent to China (DTC). The Grand Rapids office has found a couple snags in the paperwork. So, since we have been out of town, things have ground to a stand still so that the bugs can be ironed out. Hopefully, this will go quickly but I will have to stick the "it's all in God's timing" saying here.

Dossier to Grand Rapids

COOOL!! Our Dossier to adopt Lily is in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the main headquarters for Bethany Christian Services. They will go over it with the proverbial fine toothed comb and then send it on to Washington, DC to have it checked over by the US gov't and authenticated there. Then it is ready to go to China. WOW!! We could be DTC by next week at this rate. Then that official one year (or more) wait to get Lily's picture will begin.

Date, Time & Place Set

Today was the big meeting at Club 3 Degrees and they have given the green light for January 1, 2007 at 5:00 PM. Yep, 5 months and a week to go. The menu is chosen and a lot of the club details are preliminarily decided. That is the biggest part, I think, but we will see what else comes up. Just good to have so much set.

Details, details, details

OK, so we got the dress picked and the bridesmaids dress style selected. Sunday we meet with the Club manager to see if all those details can be worked out. I don't know about you but I am ready for this to over!!!

Wedding Dress Decision

This afternoon we will go to David's Bridal to scope out some dresses for both Carrie and the bridesmaids. Let's hope it is fun and not a problem. Mya will be along and that can be very interesting. We're hoping to find nice dresses at a good price. Is that even possible?

At the risk of being rude . . .

It's a big day at our house. Mya did the big #2 in her potty chair!! We are working, not too diligently, at the potty training and things are moving in the right direction. I think she is dry or near dry when she wakes up in the morning but doesn't like to make the bathroom her first stop. I think I will force the matter tomorrow. She loves big girl undies. We are using a cheap type of disposable pull up. Now, how do you celebrate this event?!? Guess we will settle for "high fives" for now.

I171 Arrives

There it was when Keith got the mail yesterday. It is the last part needed to complete our dossier. We will get it notorized today and send it to our Social Worker. Looks like we are on track to have the dossier to China by August. Then the long one year wait to referral begins. I'm praying China has a "speed up" in the process. Good thing we have Carrie's wedding to keep my mind busy. :)

USCIS APPROVAL

Wow!! Our SW emailed this afternoon to let us know that she was notified of our USCIS (immigration) approval. We were only fingerprinted last Friday and it was a holiday weekend. Who says the government is slow? They certainly were not this time.

We spent today getting paperwork redone. Some of our dates had crossouts and one notary did not have long enough of licensure and some wording needed to be changed and life insurance numbers added. Stuff like that. It's not hard, just a pain. Hoping all that stuff is in order now cuz it has to be state sealed.

For all of you who have not adopted, please do not ever tell an adoptive parent that they took the "easy way" to get their child. It is a BIG insult.

4th of July

We had a very nice day at Keith's sister's house on Mille Lacs Lake. We celebrated every known birthday, anniversary and a graduation. Guess we need to get together more often. Anyway, it was fun to play in the water and get sunburned. We had another fun thing happen. Carrie and Jon announced their official engagement to Keith's family. So, we will soon join the ranks of in-laws. I pray God will help me to be a good mother-in-law==not too involved, not too distant but how hard can that be after being a parent to teenagers. ;) I will post some pictures later in the week 'cuz we're heading to the fireworks in a bit here.
