Wow, Wow, Wednesday!

Some weeks there is lots to post. Others, nothing. We are having a "not much new" week. Unless, you want to hear about day to day stuff like laundry, vacuuming, mowing, cooking and childcare. I guess it is good to have weeks that are uneventful. Can't be running around all the time ;)

The kids did run in the sprinkler today. This photo is not from today but you get the gist.

Spent last night shopping with Erin. I am not a shopper but Erin is. We hit Target, American Eagle, DSW and Kohl's. Kohl's has some Vera Wang dresses for $10. Who wouldn't want a Vera Wang or two?? At that price, we can afford it ;) Otherwise, the typical school purchases were made--boots, jeans, blouses, unmentionables (does that mean I just mentioned them?), etc. It was a fruitful trip and I even got a couple things for myself.

Probably the biggest news is that we are filling out our questionnaire for our 6 month visit from our social worker. It is hard to believe our little guy has been here six months already but on the other hand hard to believe he has ONLY been here six months. Even with the typical sibling things, I wouldn't have it any other way. Keith is gathering pictures and I'm evaluating Noah's adjustment and ours, too. It's all covered--very complete.
Have a great week. Hope to have more to post soon!

The Day We got our Copy Cat--Kinko

When we went to visit my parents, I forgot my camera. Can you believe it??? Mom had a disposable one that she gave me. Of course, I shot up those pics quickly. Here are a few from the roll. Hope you enjoy them.
See, this is daddy's first meeting with the copy cat. No-- this old man didn't have a chance ;) Notice that the kitty is in nearly every photo!!

Mya and Kinko try out the tire swing.

If you double click this photo of Jenny, Noah, Mya and my Dad, you will be able to see Bear, Kinko's farm brother. For a drive to my parent's farm, he can be yours!!

Mom's hollyhocks in full bloom. Very pretty!!

Fishing in mom's goldfish pool.

Ice cream cones before the long trip home.

Zoo shots #3--Sticky Situation

We ended our time at the Como Zoo with some snacks. The kids wanted these rainbow succkers on the stick. I had the strawberry cheesecake bar that Keith is holding (YUM). Below is a video of Noah after eating a sucker. He was showing me how his hand stuck to his face.

Zoo Shots #2

Minnesota has a wonderful "free" zoo--Como. At this time they recommend a small donation. I am sure that eventually it will be a payment.
After seeing the animals and eating a corn dog, we went to the amusement park that is affiliated with Como Zoo. The kids were in ecstasy! Noah's face beamed while riding in the little cars. He was actually laughing out loud on one of the last ones. Pure joy!!
Today we have the Church picnic. Sure to be a hit!!
(Make sure to look at the first set of photos in yesterday's post.)

Just Thoughts

This is me. Do I look happy or like I put on a smile? I took the picture of myself as we headed down the driveway to go out to Rapid City for the kitty return. The pink thing is one of those travel pillows. Sometimes I feel like I need one of those on just to keep my head upright so that I can continue with the business of life.
In some ways, so much is happening. In other ways, life is at a stand still.

Busy things:
1) Noah will be having surgery in the fall to release his left thumb and pinkie finger in hopes that he will be able to have opposability. He will also have a circumcision.
2) Mya starts preschool this fall.
3) Dad is getting worse and mom will most likely admit him to a nursing home this fall.
4) Joe and Rachael are planning their wedding and they would like to have their reception here.
*****a) Wood chips need replacing.
*****b) Rooms need painting.
*****c) Carpets need cleaning.
5) Erin will be a senior --graduation next summer -- same list as above!

Stand still:
1) Noah's language improves very slowly, making communication difficult/frustrating.
2) House and household chores are always the same--laundry, dishes, yard work, etc.
3) Only small improvement on the whining front--a continuing source of irritation.
4) Blog orders are down --OK by me as Becky has orders and I am happy for her.
5) Kids lives feels status qu0--wake up, eat, play, eat, nap, wake up, eat, play, bedtime.

I'm sure it's all in my current perception--much of life is. I am thankful all are healthy here. God is good in all things.

Good news for many of my friends. Our agency has changed their special needs program to match what other agencies are doing. Praying for quick matches for all of you!!

SO, what would make my life better?? A housekeeper!! :-) And, maybe a cook!

Have a great weekend!!

Thursday Three

Joe and Rachael moved--Here is Rachael in her garden. Hope she keeps the rabbits (they have 3 of them) out of the garden ;)

Erin and friends attend Sonshine festival in Willmar nearly every year. Here is their camp area. Pretty steamy weather. Hope she is drinking lots of water and going swimming some.

Self explanitory ;)

Cat & Dog

Seems that Ginger has a new buddy/playmate. It's pretty comical to watch them. Ginger was actually snapping at Kinko in a playful manner. Who woulda thunk??
For those who would like to see this page full size, just click on the picture and it should open up much larger. :-)
(Hi Amanda, your mom told me you are reading about our kitty.)

The Boy Loves the Kitty

One reason I wanted the kitty is to teach the kids gentleness. Animals have a way of helping us to understand how to treat people. The other thing is that animals love unconditionally. There are many lessons to be learned from having a pet.

OK, It Wasn't the Kids

It was the momma--ME!! I just love how the little ones related to Carrie's kitten. Grandma had a little girl kitten that looked just the same and Mya was hauling it around all day at the farm. SO, I gave Keith the pathetic eyes and asked if we could take it home. The truth is, he likes kitties too but the 10-15 year committment is hard to swallow. I promised I would take care of her. She looks so much like Carrie's Scooter that we have dubbed her Kinko. Get it, like the copy company?? After sorting through other names, it turned out to be the one Keith liked the best and Noah can say it clearly. Can anyone out there beat Mya's smile???? I hope this kitty will be the kids life long buddy. AND the kitten loves the dog and the dog is mothering her a bit. See, it's all good. ;)

Heading In to Dangerous Territory

After Mya's swimming lesson today, we will drive out to my parent's home. What is so dangerous about that, you ask? This is the home of MANY kitties--siblings to Carrie's kitten. I have warned Mya and Noah that we will not be taking them home!! Let's hope they don't even ask ;)

Travel Terms

This little guy is a prime example of the things that you accumulate on trips. He and his twin (yes, 2 juvenile Ronald MacDonald's) are now inhabiting the Mazda. Why, I ask you, do we think that these little pieces of plastic will entertain our children for more than 2 minutes? I don't know?? I suckered up and now I have more junk than before.

So, I have invented a new term--DEJUNK. I double checked to make sure it was not already a word. So here you go. The multiple meanings of dejunk as defined by me--mother of 2 small kids, 3 and 4 years old, but equally applied to all ages.

Dejunk--removing the trash from any space. Used in a sentence: We stopped many times to dejunk the Mazda while in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This term can be applied to closets, teenager's rooms and garages equally as needed.

Dejunk--the stuff you remove from the car. Proper usage: We had to remove dejunk from the car (or decar, if dat makes you feel better) in order to see the kids (dekids). This term is kind of a hickized (yes, another new term) for trash, garbage and other unnecessary paraphernalia that accumulates while traveling.
How about you? Do you have some words that only you and your family understand? If so, feel free to share. Thanks for the fun.

1880 Train Ride

Keith and the kids took the the train one way from Keystone to Hill City. I drove the car. The ride was just the right length. I took video of the train. May share that later.

Kitty Goes Home

Aaron feeds the kitty before we head out.

Erin gets in on the act!!

We left shortly after the birthday festivities--9:30 PM.

The last night with kitty--fun in a hotel at 1 AM.

Carrie and Jon met us in Rapid City on Wednesday.
No, Kitty did not go for a swim ;)
