More Chinese Touches.

This year, I have tried to add a bit of China to our decorating. I ordered these decorations from http://www.redthreadchina.com/ so that we could use them on the tree. However, with the bad weather, the tree was delayed. To curb Mya's pestering, I put them on the stocking holders on the fireplace. Looks pretty nice and I may do that again next year. The verdict is still out on the tree ;) Thank you all for your encouragement. I truly appreciate it.

First Tree in 15 Years--Dose of Reality

With mixed feelings, we have put up a tree this year. The idea was to create a new tradition for the little ones. They were very excited but tempers flared and it turned bad. Erin criticized the whole venture when she got home, claiming our current traditions were not good enough. So, now I can barely look at what was supposed to be something beautiful. The cat likes to play under there so it's messed up but I don't even care. Can't wait til it's all over now and I can take it down.

Preschool Program

Mya is doing very well in preschool. I believe she can recognize all of the letters and write most of them correctly. She just loves it and eats up learning. I am very proud of her. We are blessed to have her enrolled in a local church's preschool program. So, she gets Jesus time too. This video is from her program yesterday. It was a sing-a-long.

Easy Christmas Cookies

Rolling and cutting is not my deal. So, when I found that the local grocery stores sell Christmas cut out cookies ready to bake, I was very pleased. I get the smell of the cookies and the kids get to do the part that they really enjoy. Some canned frosting, food coloring and various sprinkles and they are happy as clams (where does that saying come from, anyway??). Noah only decorated the two cookies. He spent his time rearranging the frosting and tasting it. As you can see, his hands and face were pretty blue when we were done. They took a bath afterward and I cleaned up the mess.

Cast Off Day!!

Today was the long awaited day for cast removal. Noah was very patient as Mike buzzed the saw and used an opening tool to get that stinky thing off. Then came the unwrapping of the hand. The peeling skin was totally gross and Noah scratched at it all the way home. After a bath, some lotion and a benedryl/codeine mixture, the itching has subsided and he is moving the hand. What a joy to see a real thumb and pinky!

Feels like Vacation

After some training at **** hospital, I am back to working 5 days a payperiod. Because I work this coming weekend, I have Tues-Fri off this week. All of this worked out very well as Noah is getting his cast off TOMORROW--yippeee!!! And Friday, he has a followup eye appointment.

Because I am home, Keith also scheduled the carpet layers to come on Friday. The house is in total disarray due to moving all the furniture and junk out of the areas that are being carpeted. I'm looking at it as another opportunity to get rid of stuff that is not being used. Keith has been doing the final touches on the wood flooring. He had left the carpet/floor junctions thinking something special needed to be done but has figured out what to do now. Pictures will be posted following the carpet laying.

Otherwise, not much is new here. I'm getting anxious to put the house on the market but nothing can be done while the house is such a mess.
Here is a photo because, let's face it, no post is complete without one! Fortunately, the marker came off Noah's face easily. However, it did not come off the sofa behind him as well. Momma was not a happy gal!!
